“Amiga 500” never got a formal release, but was featured in mixed form on Mumdance’s “Twists & Turns” mixtape, which was self-released in June 2013
"Amiga 500"is named after the Commodore Amiga 500, a personal computer system Mumdance owned when he was young, that he states as a big influence on his music.
Tracks named after Amiga games are a running theme in Mumdance’s discography, with “Chaos Engine,” “Golden Axe,” "Shadow of The Beast" and “Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge” being other examples.
You can hear an extended interview where he talks about the influence of the Amiga 500 in the mix archive of this website: 2016’s “Mumdance - Diggin In The Carts” show with Nick Dwyer.
“Twists and Turns” was Mumdance’s return to music after a two-year hiatus. This mixtape signalled the start of his self proclaimed “second wave” of music, a darker sound primarily influenced by UK rave, techno, grime, shoegaze and musique concrète.
This was a departure from the more “day-glo” sounds of the first wave, which was epitomized by 2010’s “Different Circles - The Mixtape”
It also signalled the start of a fruitful production partnership between Mumdance and Logos
