“Mums Of Death” was a one-off collaborative project between Mumdance and Drums of Death, released on Greco-Roman.
There is a video for “Golden Axe,” animated and directed by David Scatliffe, who also remixed “Golden Axe” in an 8-bit fashion for “Loading Sequence.”
“The Golden Axe EP” came out digitally, and there was a run of CDs that were sent to the press, which are now in circulation on the second-hand market.
“Golden Axe” and “Shadow of the Beast” are named after computer games released on the Commodore Amiga 500, a personal computer system Mumdance owned when he was young, that he states as a big influence on his music.
Tracks named after Amiga games are a running theme in Mumdance’s discography, with “Chaos Engine,” “Amiga 500,” and “Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge” being other examples.
You can hear an extended interview where he talks about the influence of the Amiga 500 in the mix archive of this website: 2016’s “Mumdance - Diggin In The Carts” show with Nick Dwyer.
