Cairo Calling was a cultural exchange organised by The British Council and Rinse FM. Taking place over two weeks, one in London and one in Cairo, artists from both countries were invited to work together and build creative bonds. This culminated in a performance and panel talk at the Barbican Centre.
Mumdance took part in the Cairo week, alongside Pinch and Faze Miyake, working with Cairo’s Islam Chipsy, Sadat, Dezel, Alaa Fifty, Figo and Kanaka.
Mumdance put together the Cairo Calling Mixtape at the end of the project, which gathered together all the work everyone had done together, which you can listen to in the discography
After the residency finished all the Cairo artists came over to play at Mumdance’s Different Circles Summer Series at the Victoria in Dalston, which you can view in the notable events.
In 2016 whilst over in the UK, Islam Chipsy and Mahmoud Refet from 100 Copies also came on Mumdance’s Rinse FM show, which you can listen to in the mix archive.
