Description

Norte Sonoro is a multimedia project in Monterrey, Mexico that seeks to explore the sounds of the North of Mexico. It includes a residency program and a music festival.

Mumdance was a participant of the first edition in 2011, alongside Helado Negro (Ecuador/USA) Toy Selectah (Mexico), Algodón Egipcio (Venezuela), Chancha Vía Circuito (Argentina), DJ Rupture (USA) and White Rainbow (USA)

They used sounds of cumbia, canto cardenche and variants of norteño music as raw material to compose their own music.

The national musicians who recorded these sounds were Javier Villarreal (Bronco guitarist), Los Cardencheros de Sapioriz, Grupo Esencias and Osvaldo Lizcano with Enlace Vallenato.
